A legacy of art: Historical painting returns to Nabburg

In a warm ceremony, the city of Nabburg received an important work of art that strengthens the connection to the city's history. The graduate engineer Werner Norgauer, the son of the recently deceased Werner Norgauer Senior, presented the city with a remarkable painting depicting the Mähntor. This work of art, which is believed to be by the talented painter Theo Rathgeber, has a special meaning for the Norgauer family.

The late Werner Norgauer Senior, who died in June of this year at the age of 92, wished that the painting would one day return to Nabburg. His son has now fulfilled this wish and officially handed over the picture to the city. Mayor Frank Zeitler expressed his gratitude and joy about this important donation, which not only enriches the art scene, but also keeps the memories of the former district architect alive.

A place in the town hall

The painting will be exhibited in the Nabburg town hall in the future, where it will find a place of honor next to an existing work by Rathgeber showing the Obertor. These two pictures harmonize not only in their size and painting style, but also in the framing, making them a perfect pair. Bringing together these two significant works allows the public to experience the artistic connection between them and appreciate the city's history in a new way.

The donation is not only a gift to the city, but also a sign of appreciation for the art and history of Nabburg. Citizens can look forward to the exhibition, which further strengthens the city's cultural identity and highlights the importance of art in the community.

The official handover took place on October 9, 2024 and is already attracting public interest. Art lovers and history buffs are invited to view the works and be inspired by the beauty and story they tell.
