Rama Dama 2024: Over 300 helpers for a clean Burglengenfeld

The sixth edition of the popular “Rama Dama” garbage collection campaign recently took place in the heart of Burglengenfeld. This initiative, which was launched by the Burglengenfeld town church in collaboration with the city, attracted over 300 committed citizens who joined the motto “clean magic campaign”. The event, which took place in mid-September, has become a regular fixture in the city's calendar.

Markus Bäuml, a member of the Creation & Environment Committee, expressed his thanks to the city and especially to Mayor Thomas Gesche for their support. “Without the help of the city, such an action would not have been possible,” he emphasized. The participants were divided into groups and collected rubbish that had been carelessly disposed of in nature along fixed routes. This waste not only affects the cityscape, but can also be harmful to flora and fauna.

Less waste than in previous years

A pleasing aspect of this year's campaign was that the amount of waste was actually lower compared to previous years. The volunteers agreed that this was a positive sign of environmental awareness in the community. After the collection campaign, all participants were invited to a snack in the inner courtyard of the town hall, where they could refresh themselves and exchange ideas. Dean Michael Hirmer and Markus Bäuml thanked the committed environmentalists on behalf of the mayor.

As part of the Creation Weekend, a special creation service took place on Sunday to which all collectors were invited. During the service, various groups presented their most important environmental concerns, and the Upper Palatinate Parforce Horn Players provided the musical accompaniment to the event. This combination of practical help and spiritual reflection shows how important the issue of environmental protection is for the community.

The garbage collection campaign will continue next year and the date for September 2025 will be announced soon. This year's participants included a variety of groups, including kindergartens, schools and local associations, all working together to promote a clean environment.
