First public e-charging stations in front of CleverFit: A step towards sustainability

Two new public e-charging stations are now available in Naabtalpark, directly in front of the CleverFit fitness studio. This initiative, launched by CleverFit owner Christian Faderl, makes the studio the first of its kind in the Schwandorf district to offer such charging options. Faderl is convinced that it is the first fitness studio in all of Bavaria with charging stations right outside the door.

The idea of installing e-charging stations came about in 2019. Faderl reports that it was a long road marked by bureaucratic hurdles and various approval procedures. “It took some perseverance to navigate the bureaucratic jungle,” he explains. After five years of planning and numerous challenges, including the corona pandemic and delivery difficulties, the charging stations are finally ready for use.

A step into the future of electromobility

Mayor Thomas Gesche was positive about the new charging stations and described them as a significant step forward for electromobility in the region. In addition to the charging stations, bicycle stands and a roof were also installed to enable the charging of e-bikes and e-scooters. “This initiative is an important contribution to promoting environmentally friendly means of transport,” said Gesche.

The new e-charging stations offer two charging points with 22 kW each and are accessible around the clock. Users can charge their electric vehicles while training or shopping in Naabtalpark. The charging stations are compatible with the most common charging cards and apps, which makes billing easy. Ad-hoc charging is also possible, which means that anyone can charge their vehicle without having to register beforehand. “Everyone is allowed to charge here,” emphasizes Faderl, adding that using the charging stations is not tied to a gym membership.

The installation of the e-charging stations is not CleverFit's first measure to promote sustainability. A photovoltaic system with an output of 99 kW has been installed on the roof of the fitness studio since 2018, supplemented by a 100 kW storage unit in the building. “We show that environmental protection and health-promoting activities can go hand in hand,” concludes Faderl.
