14th City Triangle Run: Top sporting achievements and donation record

On August 17, 2024 the time had finally come: the 14th city triangle run took place in summer temperatures of 27 degrees. Despite the heat, 590 participants were not deterred and took on the sporting challenge on the set routes.

This year the runners and walkers were able to raise an impressive donation amount of 4,425 euros. This sum is not only the result of the participants' sporting commitment, but also the generous support from local banks. The VR Bank Mittlere Oberpfalz, the Sparkasse in the Schwandorf district and the Volksbank Raiffeisenbank Regensburg-Schwandorf have once again agreed to donate 2.50 euros for every runner who crosses the finish line to support the food bank in the city triangle.

Digital time measurement for precise results

A highlight of this year's run was the first introduction of digital timekeeping by the company ZeitZeit. Each participant received a start number with an integrated transponder that enabled immediate and accurate timing as soon as the runners passed the timing points. This represented a significant step forward in the organization of the event.

The run would not have been possible without the support of many helpers. A big thank you goes to the organizational team of the cities involved, the volunteer police security forces, the local fire departments, the BRK medical staff as well as the employees of the municipal building yard and the sponsors. Association chairman Thomas Beer emphasized how important the know-how of recent years is for the success of the event. The award ceremony took place at 5:00 p.m. and kicked off the citizens' festival in Teublitz with a prize draw among the adult participants.

Special achievements and honors

The HC97 city triangle represented the largest group with 79 participants. The oldest participants were Wolfgang Biedermann, who started at the age of 84, and Monika Zapf, who is 78 years old. Tim Langsdorf and Franziska Ehbauer, both 8 years old, won the Bambini category. Kurfeß Luca and Griny Solomia won the school run. Scholz Luis and Schulz Sigrid won the six-kilometer walking route, while Lell Hans and Fresch Silke took first place in the six-kilometer run. Reinstein Martin completed the ten kilometer run in 36:16 minutes and Maria Brand in 37:07 minutes, both of whom were rewarded with first place.
