Construction work in Hohengebraching: diversions and new sidewalks from August

In the municipality of Pentling, extensive construction work on the R 4 district road will begin on Monday, August 26th. This measure aims to completely expand the Hohengebraching through town. The work is expected to last until the end of July 2025, meaning the affected section of the route will be closed to all traffic during this time.

The planned construction work is divided into several sections. The aim is to adapt the roadway to the increased traffic volume. In addition, the sidewalks on both sides will be expanded to a width of 1.50 m and 1.80 m to ensure accessibility. The renewal of the storm sewer and the water pipe is also on the agenda. A rain retention basin will be set up at the outskirts of Hohengebraching to drain rainwater efficiently. The existing combined pedestrian and cycle path will be extended to the through town, with a width of 2.50 m and 0.5 m shoulders on both sides.

Details about the construction project

The asphalt surface layer of the district road is also being repaired, especially in the section from the Hohengebraching town exit in the direction of Seedorf to the intersection with the R20 district road. The Regensburg district is responsible for financing the renewal of the road and sidewalks, while the costs for the new sidewalk and cycle path are shared between the municipality of Pentling and the district. The South Water Association will cover the costs of replacing the water pipe. The construction company Fahrner Bauunternehmen GmbH will carry out the work.

Alternative routes are planned to reroute traffic. Traffic is routed in both directions via the federal highway B16 to Bad Abbach and the state highway St 2143. Despite the construction work, local public transport and school bus services will remain in place throughout the construction period. Information about the replacement bus stops and changes to the bus timetable can be found on the Regensburger Verkehrsverbund website.

Residents can continue to access their properties during the closure, and access for emergency, garbage and delivery vehicles is also guaranteed. However, it will be necessary to close the county road completely in the short term to allow for the asphalt layers. The affected residents will be informed about these measures in good time.

The Regensburg district asks all road users and residents to understand the inevitable traffic disruptions and the associated detours during the construction period. Further information, including a sketch of the start of construction work and a detour plan, is available on the Pentling Council website.
