Carnival holidays 2026: Adventures in Munich's film studios for kids!
On January 14, 2026, the anticipation of the carnival holidays in Bavaria will become increasingly noticeable. This special holiday officially begins on Monday, February 16th and runs until Friday, February 20th, 2026. The time of Carnival is not only characterized by celebration and revelry, but also has deep roots in pagan customs and Christian traditions. Originally it was a time of abundance that marked the start of the 40-day Lent. The symbolism of carnival reflects the farewell to excess and the new beginning, which also targets various social aspects.
In this context, the Mintraching youth club organizes an exciting holiday trip during the carnival holidays in cooperation with the Lappersdorf youth club. On Thursday, February 19, 2026, children and young people between the ages of 9 and 15 can visit the Bavaria Film Studios in Munich. During the excursion, a guided tour of the impressive film city is on the program, and participants can look forward to a visit to the 4D cinema in the park. The entire event costs €20, which must be brought in cash on the day of the excursion.
Organizational details and process
The departure takes place at 8:30 a.m. from Mintraching, with participants should arrive at the JUZ Mintraching (Schmiedgasse 19, 93098 Mintraching) at 8:15 a.m. From there we continue together to Lappersdorf to get to Munich. The return is planned for around 5:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. in Mintraching, depending on traffic. The return meeting point is also the JUZ at the festival site in Mintraching.
Those interested must register in advance. Further information and the option to register can be found via the link Mintraching. The carnival holidays also offer nine days full of activities and excursions, which can be supplemented by the following weekend.
Carnival culture and traditions in Bavaria
In Bavaria, the typical traditions of the carnival season include dressing up with costumed performances, taking part in colorful parades with festively decorated floats, as well as traditional carnival balls and dance events. Donuts, usually filled with jam, are a classic treat that is particularly popular at this time. Carnival is therefore not only a time of celebration, but also a phase of creative development and an important community experience for young and old.
In summary, the carnival holidays in Bavaria offer an excellent opportunity to experience the diverse traditions and at the same time take part in exciting activities such as the upcoming holiday trip. The event on February 19, 2026 at the Bavaria Film Studios promises to be an unforgettable experience for all young participants.
