Important information for residents: Parking areas at Mühlwiese are closed!
In the period from Monday, October 6th, 2025, to Wednesday, October 15th, 2025, the parking areas in the “Mühlwiese” area at the town hall must be completely closed. This was announced by the municipality in a recent announcement in order to carry out urgently necessary asphalting work. During this time it is not possible to park or park vehicles in the affected areas. Residents are urged to park their vehicles in nearby parking spaces in a timely manner. Vehicles parked illegally will be towed away for a fee. Once the work has been completed, the areas should be released again immediately, although completion can be postponed in the event of weather-related delays. The aim of these measures is to increase traffic safety and sustainably improve the infrastructure, as emphasized by the Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure.
Improving road safety in Germany is a top priority for the federal government, a goal that is anchored in the so-called Vision Zero program. Transport infrastructure plays an essential role in this context and all phases of road projects must seriously consider this safety. Technical regulations, including for the planning, construction and operation of federal highways, are introduced by the Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure in order to ensure a uniform and safe design. Infrastructure security management includes various components to take security aspects into account in the design planning and to check them regularly.
Building regulations and safety rules
In order to ensure safety on construction sites, the technical rule ASR A5.2 came into force in December 2018. This rule specifies the workplace regulations for the setting up and operation of road construction sites in the area bordering road traffic. The draft of a “handbook” for the interaction of this rule with road traffic requirements was published in June 2019 and was approved by consensus in a supervisory group with representatives of the responsible authorities and the construction industry. The civil engineering department recommends the action aid for assessing critical borderline cases in order to ensure safety during construction work, as set out on the website of the German Statutory Accident Insurance.
The upcoming asphalting work in the Mühlwiese is therefore not only necessary for the municipal infrastructure, but also part of a larger security concept that is being pursued by the federal government. The responsibility for the safety of road infrastructure lies with all actors and these measures are intended to contribute to reducing traffic risks.
