Laaber municipality approves billion-dollar budget for important projects!
At the meeting of the Laaber market town council on September 15, 2025, the budget for the coming year was approved. The financial framework is clear: the administrative budget amounts to income and expenditure of 11,943,065 euros, while the asset budget amounts to 10,859,365 euros. The focus is on several large projects, including the construction of a new fire station with an investment of 500,000 euros and the construction of a daycare center for 2,800,000 euros. Road construction projects, such as the expansion of the “Am Kronbügl” road for 720,000 euros and various asphalting work for a total of 1,070,000 euros, are also planned. Furthermore, 600,000 euros will be invested in canal construction in Waldetzenberg and 1,246,200 euros are planned for broadband expansion.
In addition, the committee decided on new garage and parking space regulations. This new statute is necessary in order to meet the current legal requirements in the 2025 amendment to building law. This regulation comes into force on October 1, 2025 and takes into account changes in the obligation to set up parking spaces, which will be municipalized and placed on a different legal basis. According to heimat-info.de, existing statutes must be adjusted by September 30th in order to comply with the new Garage and Parking Space Ordinance (GaStellV), which was last changed on December 23rd, 2024.
Important changes to the parking space regulations
A central innovation of the new parking space statute is that the number of parking spaces no longer depends on the size of the apartments, but is based on the Bavarian Garage and Parking Space Ordinance. For example, if there are two residential units or more, some car parking spaces can also be used for bicycles. In addition, the transfer fee for missing parking spaces will in future be limited to 10,000 euros per parking space. These important changes were decided by the building and environmental committee in Laaber.
In the non-public meeting, several awards were also decided, including the award of landscaping and civil engineering work on the small market square to Schmid Transport und Erdbau GmbH for 399,891.87 euros gross. In addition, the Lohse company was awarded the contract for the painting work on the new building of the Talweg daycare center for a total of over 8,000 euros gross. Equipping the new daycare center with IT and network technology also received an award of 15,493.80 euros to Matthias Böhm IT Services.
Public lighting and innovative approaches
Another suggestion from Mayor Schmid concerns the lighting of the “Spitalmühle – Eisenhammer” footpath and cycle path. The intention here is to install solar lights. The panel responded positively to this proposal and the administration is encouraged to seek further offers before making a final decision.
The new regulations on garage and parking spaces as well as the extensive investment plans reflect the dynamic development and challenges that the market town of Laaber is facing. The community hopes that these measures will both improve the infrastructural conditions and adapt to modern living and building requirements.
