Laaber school association meeting: Budget 2024 and school route safety in focus
At the last meeting of the Laaber school association assembly, which took place on July 25, 2024, important decisions were made for the coming school years. The budget for 2024 was approved unanimously, which is a positive sign for those responsible. The administrative budget amounts to 705,850 euros, while the asset budget ends at 261,000 euros. Particularly noteworthy is the levy requirement for the primary school, which is 270,200 euros, while the middle school has an unmet need of 239,490 euros.
Another item on the agenda was the annual financial statements for 2023, which were prepared by the Regensburg Real Tax Office. This shows that the administrative budget in terms of income and expenditure ends at 693,110.09 euros and the asset budget at 349,389.24 euros. The assembly noted the result and commissioned the local auditor to examine the documents.
Important developments in school organization
The audit for 2022 was also addressed. There were no complaints, which led to the relief of the school association chairman and the administration. Another topic was safety on the way to school. The route to school from Brunner Straße 32 in Brunn was classified as particularly dangerous, which opens up funding opportunities from the 2023/2024 school year. In contrast, the threat to the way to school in the Kirchhof district has been eliminated.
The rector reported on the number of students for the 2024/2025 school year. It is expected that 223 students will attend elementary school and 134 will attend middle school. Due to the high number of students in the 10th grade, it is divided into two classes, 10a and 10b. This shows that schools are well attended and demand for school places remains high.
Another important point was the discussion about the legal right to all-day care, which will apply to primary school students from the 2026/2027 school year. Architects presented various concepts for the open all-day event, whereby a space requirement of 2.5 square meters per student must be planned. Funding of 6,000 euros per student is promised, plus an additional 4,500 euros if the construction work for a cafeteria is completed by 2026.
Unfortunately, holiday care for the 2023/2024 school year had to be canceled due to insufficient registrations. In addition, a pipe burst was discovered in the Laaber elementary school, the renovation of which should be completed by the beginning of the 2024/2025 school year. Following these public issues, a non-public meeting was held to discuss further matters.
