Citizens of Kürn shape the future: Village community center in focus”

In Kürn, an exciting information event took place in the former “Zur Post” inn on Tuesday, October 1st. Over 180 citizens came to find out about the plans to convert the building into a village community center. Mayor Obermeier opened the meeting and emphasized the importance of citizen participation for this project.

The event was moderated by the Nuremberg office Planwerk, which informed those present about the development concepts of the Bernhardswald community. These concepts are crucial in order to receive funding from the Office for Rural Development and urban development funding. Markus Götz, a representative of the office, also presented successful examples of other communities that have implemented similar projects.

Discussion about challenges and opportunities

Numerous questions and concerns were raised during the event. The citizens were particularly interested in the period of use of the building, the financing, the monument protection and the possible uses by local associations. However, the association's board members were optimistic and willing to work together to realize the project.

In order to plan the next steps, it is important that committed “carers” are found to drive the development of the community center forward. Working groups should be formed to pool citizens' ideas and suggestions. Anyone interested in taking an active part in the project or who has any questions can contact Ms. Hartl directly in the town hall.

The community would like to thank the Kürner associations for their great commitment and the many interested citizens who want to be actively involved in the design of their village.
