Tauernfeld celebrates the inauguration of the new KuGG village community center
There is now a new place in Tauernfeld where the villagers can meet. The newly inaugurated building, known as “Culture and Garden in the Green” or KuGG for short, is intended to stimulate village life and club activities. At the ceremonial opening, which was accompanied by a blessing from Pastor Michael Konecny, numerous guests were present who had accepted Mayor Peter Meier's invitation.
Mayor Meier expressed his delight at the completion of the KuGG and emphasized the importance of such a meeting place for the village community. “It is important that the citizens of Tauernfeld have a place where they can gather,” he said. The need for a social meeting place became particularly noticeable after the last inn in the village closed.
A community project
The idea for the village community center came about in 2021. Michael Feichtmeier, a committed citizen of Tauernfeld, was the main initiator of the project. Unfortunately, he was no longer able to attend the inauguration because he died last year. Nevertheless, his influence on the project will not be forgotten, and the villagers are grateful for his efforts.
The realization of the KuGG would not have been possible without the active support of the local associations and their members. Many volunteers worked on the site in their free time, which contributed significantly to the completion of the project. The total costs for the KuGG amount to around 450,000 euros, with the LEADER funding program providing support of 148,000 euros. This program, which has existed for over 30 years, has established itself as an important part of the EU funding policy for rural regions.
The local action group REGINA-Neumarkt e.V. played a central role in the implementation of the project. During the inauguration, Kathrin Kimmich, the managing director of REGINA GmbH, also thanked the villagers who actively participated in the design of the new meeting point.
