The Rieder Kirta tree was put up: the fire department and the village community celebrated with line dancing and culinary delicacies.

Rieder Kirta: Tradition, dance and an unexpected bed of nails
In the small community of Ried, tradition is very important, and this is particularly evident at the annual Kirta festival. A week after the fair in Gleissenberg, the Kirta tree is set up here, an event that brings the village community together. On Saturday afternoon it was that time again: the committed members of the village community had lovingly prepared the tree, and Josef Mühlbauer took on the honorable task of setting it up. After putting up the tree, the villagers gathered in the village square to celebrate together.
The celebrations were opened by fire brigade board member Thomas Weingärtner, who warmly welcomed numerous guests, including tree donor Eduard Gruber and deputy mayor Anton Saurer. The culinary offerings were diverse: from home-baked cakes to grilled sausages to a delicious wood-grilled roast suckling pig – there was something for every taste, and all at fair prices. In bright summer weather, the line dancers put on a sporting performance that was rewarded with lots of applause.
Young people and customs
As darkness fell, the young people set out to “carry Kirta Zamm”. This custom, which is deeply rooted in the region, is a source of much conversation. This year the Kirta stall was particularly impressive, prompting locals to spruce up their home stalls. Many people watched with a smile as the young people got to work with a lot of enthusiasm and creativity.
But not everything went without incident. Some new residents loudly expressed their critical views on the village's traditions in the middle of the night. A bed of nails was also discovered, which raised questions: Why do people move to rural areas if they can't cope with the customs and noises there? The village community agrees that it is important to preserve traditions and at the same time treat each other with respect.
With joint strength, the Kirta tree became vertical.

The line dancers from Michelsdorf created a good atmosphere on the village square.

The Rieder “Kirta Stand”: This time the people from Gleißenberg can learn a lesson.

Hard to believe: A board of nails on the Ried Kirta night.
