Celebration of his 100th birthday: Oswald Heimbucher and his legacy in Sulzbach-Rosenberg

The city of Sulzbach-Rosenberg is planning a special celebration to remember one of its most important cultural supporters. September 27, 2024 marks the birthday of Oswald Heimbucher, who would have been 100 years old. This opportunity will be used to recognize his outstanding contributions to the city's cultural landscape.

Oswald Heimbucher was a defining figure in the region's music scene. In 1956 he founded the municipal singing and music school and directed it until 1984. His vision and commitment also led to the founding of the vocational school for music in 1984. In addition, he was significantly involved in the establishment of an internationally recognized literary archive in 1976, together with his friend Walter Höllerer. Despite his significant achievements, he did not always receive the recognition he deserved.

Memorial event in the hospital church

Numerous people came together at the memorial event in the hospital church to honor Heimbucher. Those present included not only his children, but also old companions and former students. This meeting offered the opportunity to show appreciation for Heimbucher's tireless commitment to the city.

The celebration was musically performed by Dr. Markus Lommer, Michael Kämmle as well as the talented artists Lea Bleibaum, Maximilian Romanow and Heimarie Biegerl. Their performances gave the event a special touch and added to the festive atmosphere.

After the official celebration, the first mayor Stefan Frank invited the guests to a small drink. In his speech, he emphasized the invaluable services that Oswald Heimbucher has provided to the city. This memorial event is not only a tribute to a great man, but also a reminder of the importance of culture and education in the community.
