Psychotherapist Stephanie Agger opens a new chapter in Illschwang
The journey of Stephanie Agger, an experienced alternative psychotherapy practitioner, is a remarkable story of change and determination. Originally from Hamburg, she acquired the former Neuberger country inn in Illschwang in 2019 in order to offer her psychotherapeutic services there. Together with her husband Jens, she has transformed the building into a welcoming center for psychotherapy, couples therapy and art therapy.
Over the last four and a half years, Stephanie Agger has conducted numerous seminars, workshops and individual therapies in her new premises. Her goal is to help people express their feelings and identify their needs while maintaining healthy relationships. In her current flyer she emphasizes: “Being in a relationship makes you happy, nothing else!” This philosophy runs through her work and is reflected in the offerings she provides for her clients.
A path full of experiences
Stephanie Agger has had a colorful life. After studying communication design in Hamburg, she worked as a stylist for advertising films and discovered her passion for aesthetics and design. Her path took her to Tunisia, where she developed animation concepts for hotels. After returning to Germany, she decided to study art therapy, which gave her a new perspective on the human psyche.
After seven years in a psychosomatic clinic in St. Blasien, she decided to expand her knowledge by studying transactional analysis and training to become a psychotherapist. This comprehensive training enabled her to run her own practice in Singen from 2010 to 2017 before moving to Illschwang.
The decision to buy the Landgasthaus Neuberger was a matter of the heart for Stephanie and Jens. They were looking for a place that could serve as both a living space and a practice. When viewing the historic building, Stephanie was immediately enthusiastic and recognized the potential that lies in the old walls. “The house has a soul, you can make something out of it,” she said of her choice.
The premises of the former inn not only provide space for their therapeutic offerings, but also for a new café, which opened in June 2023. Karlson’s Café & Bistro, run by a friend and his son, has quickly become a popular meeting place. Stephanie designed the café with her sense of design and cosiness to create a welcoming atmosphere.
In addition to her work in therapy, Stephanie Agger works closely with her daughter Viktoria, a fashion designer. Together they have written a book called “How to become Goldmarie”, which encourages people to lead fulfilling and self-determined lives. Her combination of psychological support and spiritual awareness offers clients a unique approach to improving their lifestyle.
