Unforgettable community outing: Hahnbach explores Austria!

On September 10, 2025, the market town of Hahnbach organized an exciting community trip to Austria. Under the leadership of Georg Götz, the second mayor of Hahnbach and chairman of the cultural committee, the participants explored the cultural highlights of the neighboring country on a three-day trip. The program, created in collaboration with Thomas-Reisen, promised a captivating mix of history and nature.

The first stop on the trip was Linz, a city that combines both historical and modern facets. Here the travelers visited the Pöstlingberg, where they admired the baroque pilgrimage church and the impressive panorama of the Danube city. Afterwards, a city tour took place in the historic center, during which the participants learned more about the multifaceted history of Linz.

Discoveries in Steyr

The second stop took the group to Steyr, which is also known as the “jewel of urban planning”. The city tours thrilled the participants and impressively conveyed the architectural beauties of this location. Steyr also offers a picturesque location at the foot of the Kalkalpen National Park, making it a magnetic destination for nature lovers, as described on the Kalkalpen National Park page.

Another highlight was an afternoon trip on the Enns in a “floating alpine hut”. This special experience allowed travelers to enjoy the impressive landscape from a new perspective and end the day relaxing.

Cultural highlights and return journey

Another cultural highlight awaited us on the return journey: a visit to the Augustinian Canons' Monastery of St. Florian. Here an exciting program led through the magnificent library, the marble hall, the Altdorf Altar as well as the collegiate basilica and the crypt with Anton Bruckner's coffin. This insight into the religious and cultural history of Austria rounded off the excursion.

Finally, the group ended the day in Adlersberg before returning safely to Hahnbach. For all participants it was an unforgettable experience that not only opened their eyes to the beauty of the Austrian landscape, but also brought them closer to the cultural highlights of the region.
