New asylum accommodation in Mering: information evening for volunteers

The building in Mering will be rented by the district office for five years from November 1, 2024. It includes 15 residential units that are between 30 and 80 square meters in size. In total, up to 75 people can live there. It is not yet clear who will move in. This depends on the access process. The property is suitable for families, but it cannot be guaranteed that only families will be accommodated there.

Accommodation details

Occupancy takes place gradually. The district office's so-called housekeepers are regularly on site. Contrary to rumors to the contrary on social media, the district office does not pay rent per capita. Instead, a rent per square meter is paid, which is based on the usual local rent. A surcharge is due because the asylum accommodation is more densely occupied than a private rental. This leads to increased wear and tear, which is covered by the impact. The condition of the property, especially the energy condition, also plays a role in determining the rental price.

Care of residents

There will be no security service in the new accommodation. If there are problems after occupancy, neighbors and residents should contact the district office. Contact persons areSandra HaderandMichael Englhart. The refugee and migration advisory service is responsible for caring for and advising residents. The position in Mering, which has an office, is currently vacant. However, the carrier has been looking for a successor for a long time.

The volunteer, education and integration department at the district office plans together with the asylum coordinatorMaureen Lermera new group of helpers for accommodation. More than 60 people currently live in six decentralized accommodations in Mering. On average, around 120 people are accommodated in the ANKER branch, but it is currently not occupied due to repair work following flood damage.
