Scharnitz wind farm: Green energy for Kühbach starts now!
The citizen information event on the planned “Scharnitz wind farm” took place on November 6th, 2023 and was met with great interest. The current project status can be viewed on the UNENDLICH Energie website. In collaboration with the citizens' energy cooperative Neuburg-Schrobenhausen-Aichach-Eichstätt eG, the wind farm will comprise six locations, located in both the communities of Gachenbach and Kühbach on the B300. The wind turbines (WKA) should have a hub height of 162 meters, a rotor diameter of 175 meters and a total height of 249.5 meters, with a nominal output of 6.x MW each and a yield forecast of 72 to 90 million kWh.
There are various contact options for interested citizens, including via the Citizen Energy Cooperative and the Kühbach market. Mr. Stimpfle can be reached via the email address stimpfle@vg-kuehbach.de or by telephone at 08251/8785-31. The presentation of the information event is also available to download and has a size of 3.00 MB.
Background to the citizen energy cooperative
Citizens' energy cooperatives, as anchored in the German Renewable Energy Sources Act (EEG), pursue the goal of decentralized, environmentally friendly and independent energy production. These registered cooperatives (e.G.) enable citizens to actively participate in the energy transition and invest in local projects. The establishment of such cooperatives has a long tradition in Germany and has experienced a significant upswing since the opening of the energy markets, with the number of cooperatively organized energy producers increasing, particularly in the areas of photovoltaics and wind energy. In 2024, 77% of energy cooperatives are already active in the field of photovoltaics, while 17% focus on wind power.
In recent years there has been an increase in the establishment of community energy cooperatives, which has been particularly encouraged by positive political conditions. The REScoop.eu network underlines the importance of these cooperative structures, which extend across many European countries. The successful implementation of such projects not only promotes local energy supplies, but also the community engagement of citizens.
