In the Mühlhausen district, extensive road construction work will take place from September 16, 2024, which will result in a complete closure of the through-town route. This measure affects the intersection of St 2035, Augsburger Straße, Unterkreuthweg and Seeweg and is expected to take two weeks. The local administration has already pointed out the need for this work, which particularly concerns the completion of the road surface.
The full closure is necessary in order to be able to carry out the final work efficiently and without interruptions. This means that all vehicle traffic will be rerouted, causing a significant change for residents and commuters.
Detours and traffic adjustments
The diversion for traffic from Augsburg towards Neuburg and Pöttmes is via Gersthofen and the B2, with the route leading via Langweid and Rehling. In the opposite direction, traffic is routed via Bergen and Derching onto the AIC25 district road. Despite the diversions, the commercial area remains accessible via a temporary road in the direction of State Road 2381 (Mühlhausen-Rehling), which is now accessible in both directions. However, special caution is required here as the road conditions are narrow and there may be two-way traffic.
The changes also affect the bus connections of the Augsburger Verkehrsverbund (AVV). Passengers must expect cancellations and timetable changes until September 28th. The regional bus lines 225, 301, 302, 303, 305, 315, 317 as well as the on-call bus lines 317 and 395 cannot reach the stops “Augsburg, Flughafen Abzw.”, “Mühlhausen, Ludwigshof” and “Mühlhausen, Gewerbegebiet”. Instead, it is recommended to use the “Mühlhausen” and “Mühlhausen, Sparkasse” stops.
Bus line 301 is particularly affected, as it cannot serve the “Mühlhausen” stop on certain departures. Passengers are asked to use the “Bergen” stop. Line 303 also has restrictions, while line 305 trips are canceled at certain times. The diversions also lead to changed departure times and longer journey times on all lines.
In order to stay up to date, the AVV recommends passengers to find out about the construction site timetables. This can be done in person at the AVV customer center at the main train station or at the swa customer center at Königsplatz. Alternatively, the mobile timetable information in the “meinAVV” app and the AVV website are available to obtain up-to-date information.
