Open day: Discover the modernized AWZ Steinmühle!
The Steinmühle waste management center invites you to a special event on Sunday, September 15, 2024. From 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. the facility opens its doors and offers the public the opportunity to discover the latest developments and modernizations. This event marks the completion of extensive renovation work that has made the EWZ one of the most advanced landfills in Bavaria.
The day begins with a warm welcome from District Administrator Roland Grillmeier, followed by greetings from the mayors from the surrounding communities. A diverse culinary offering is available for guests. Various drinks are available from 10:00 a.m., and from 11:00 a.m. visitors can enjoy delicious steak and bratwurst rolls. In the afternoon a selection of coffee and cake is offered. Donations are also collected for the Mitterteicher Tafel e.V. to help those in need in the region.
Entertainment for the whole family
There is an exciting program for the little guests that invites them to take part. A guessing game, a mini football pitch and crayons ensure lots of fun. The Wheel of Fortune of the Schwandorf Waste Recycling Association (ZMS) promises additional entertainment. A special highlight is the new image film about the waste management center, which is shown in the exhibition room. Here visitors can also see an updated model of the landfill as well as images and information about the center's history and current developments.
Another highlight of the day are the tours around the area with the Großbüchelberg tourist train. These trips run from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and last approximately 30 minutes. During the tours, participants have the opportunity to get to know various EEZ facilities, such as the landfill, bulky waste acceptance and the ZMS waste transfer area. The Steinmühle Waste Management Center is looking forward to numerous visitors and an informative and entertaining day.
