Tirschenreuth Youth Council: Actively shape the future and celebrate with cocktails

The annual youth meeting of the Tirschenreuth Youth Council takes place at the beginning of October. This time the venue is the home of the tennis club at ATSV Tirschenreuth. All young people and those young at heart from Tirschenreuth are cordially invited. The event is rounded off with a selection of self-mixed cocktails.

Political commitment

“Becoming politically active means helping to shape the future,” emphasizes the youth representativeSebastian Rosnitschekin his welcoming speech. He speaks of the responsibility of the youth council, which has already been carried out for over ten years. The concerns of young people are at the forefront. At the same time, it is important to also think about the future. Issues such as jobs, housing, leisure opportunities and sustainability are crucial. The youth representative would like these aspects from the young people, as many of these issues are heard in the city council.

Greetings from the guests of honor

First mayorFranz Stahldescribes the youth council as the “forecourt of the city council”. He explains that the activities of the youth committee are comparable to those of the city council. Current topics are discussed that will also have an impact on the future.Deputy district administrator and city councilor Dr. Alfred Scheidlerreminds us that the next local elections in Bavaria are coming up in a year and a half. “This is an opportunity for you,” Scheidler addresses the audience. Young politically interested people should stand for election in order to strengthen democracy in the local area.

Review of activities

Youth Council SpeakerLukas Üblackergives a look back at the many activities over the past year. In the spring, the youth council goes on a trip to the trampoline hall in Hof, in which over 20 young people take part. A creative painting activity brings fresh colors to the carp at the playground in Fischhofpark. Young people will also be actively represented at the Tirschenreuth community festival in June 2024, this time with their own popcorn sales stand. The connection to the youth council of the city of Lauf is strengthened every year, so in July the people of Tirschenreuth visit their partner city on the occasion of the Kunigunden festival. In order to collect new ideas, the committee is holding a closed meeting in the “Siebenquell” health resort in Weißenstadt.

Outlook for 2025

Exciting campaigns are already being planned for 2025. The youth council would like to organize an open-air cinema and possibly start a youth program. In addition, the projects “shelter at the meeting field” and a “room for the youth council” are being pursued.

Finally, Üblacker encourages all interested young people to get involved in the youth council. This committee will also be re-elected next year and is looking forward to new “offspring”. After the official part of the event, there will be a convivial finale with cocktails.
