Tirschenreuth fire department celebrates the inauguration of new emergency vehicles

The Tirschenreuth fire department recently reached a significant milestone that pleased both the emergency services and the city's citizens. At the beginning of October, two new fire engines were inaugurated, which are of great importance for the safety and protection of the community. Over 150 guests were present at the ceremony, including city priest Georg Flierl and mayor Franz Stahl, who emphasized the importance of the fire department for the city.

“A great day for the Tirschenreuth fire department,” said Mayor Stahl, who praised the firefighters’ dedicated work. These vehicles, a tanker truck 3000 squadron (TLF) and a fire fighting group vehicle 20 (HLF), are not only technical innovations, but also a sign of appreciation for the fire department, which plays a central role in the city. The fire brigade is indispensable when it comes to fighting fires and providing technical assistance and will continue to play an important role in the future.

Details about the new vehicles

Planning for the new vehicles began in 2021 when the need to replace the 30-year-old HLF and 38-year-old TLF was recognized. The two new vehicles were finally taken into delivery in March and September of this year. Commander Matthias Haulena thanked the city administration for the support, which included, among other things, the construction of the new equipment shed in Tirschenreuth and the purchase of a total of seven new emergency vehicles worth 1.6 million euros.

The new vehicles are equipped with the latest technology. The TLF focuses on firefighting, while the HLF is designed for technical assistance. Special features include a winch, a battery-powered rescue kit and a rescue platform that can be used in truck accidents. Both vehicles have a powerful 299 hp engine and are all-wheel drive, which increases their ability to operate in difficult situations.

Another highlight is the self-protection system, which is equipped with spray bars and spray nozzles to protect the vehicles during use. Mayor Stahl wished the firefighters that they would have to use the new vehicles as rarely as possible and emphasized the fire department's motto: “To the glory of God, to the defense of our neighbor.”

In addition to the vehicle inauguration, the excellent youth work of the fire brigade youth was recognized, which won the title of German runner-up at the national competition in Dresden. This achievement was honored with an entry in the city of Tirschenreuth's Golden Book, which underlines the importance of working with young talent.
