Open day: Discover the modern Steinmühle waste management center!
(Steinmühle) On Sunday, September 15, 2024, the Steinmühle Waste Management Center (AWZ) will open its doors to anyone interested from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. This event marks the successful completion of extensive modernization work that has made the EWZ one of the most advanced landfills in Bavaria.
The day opens with a warm welcome from District Administrator Roland Grillmeier. Afterwards, the mayors of the surrounding communities will address a few words to the guests. Your physical well-being is well taken care of: various drinks are available from 10:00 a.m., followed by a lunch menu with delicious steak and bratwurst rolls from 11:00 a.m. In the afternoon, visitors can relax with a cup of coffee and a selection of cakes. Donations are also collected for the Mitterteicher Tafel e.V. to help people in need.
Entertainment for young and old
There is an exciting program for younger guests: a guessing game, a mini soccer field and crayons invite you to take part. A wheel of fortune from the Schwandorf waste recycling association (ZMS) also provides additional entertainment and fun.
A special highlight is the new image film about the EEZ, which is shown in the exhibition room. Here visitors can also discover an updated model of the landfill as well as images and information about the center's history and current developments.
Another highlight of the day are the tours around the grounds with the Großbüchelberg tourist train, which take place from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. During the approximately 30-minute journey, guests have the opportunity to get to know various EWZ facilities, such as the landfill, the bulky waste acceptance and the ZMS waste transfer area.
The Steinmühle Waste Management Center is looking forward to numerous visitors and an informative and entertaining day that underlines the importance of waste management in our region.
