The organic mile of the Steinwald-Allianz eco-model region took place in the picturesque castle courtyard of Wolframshof at the beginning of September. This event attracted over 4,000 visitors who learned about the diversity of organic farming. In addition to the numerous stands that presented regional products, an important event was also highlighted: the historic Thanksgiving procession that will take place in Kastl on September 14, 2025.

The organic mile not only offered visitors a platform to find out about sustainable agriculture, but also an insight into the traditions of the region. Clubs and organizations used the opportunity to draw attention to the upcoming Thanksgiving parade, which celebrates the history and culture of rural communities.

A look at the 2025 Thanksgiving parade

The information stand about the Thanksgiving parade was a real eye-catcher. Designed with great attention to detail, it gave visitors an exciting preview of what they can expect in Kastl in 2025. Signs with the inscriptions “Thanksgiving Procession 2025” and “Life in the country as it used to be” got the guests in the mood for the upcoming celebration. Particularly striking were the large banners announcing the date and program of the festival weekend. On Friday, September 12, 2025, the festival will open with a performance by the Troglauer, followed by a hometown evening on Saturday, which includes a church procession and a festival service.

The stand also featured historic machinery and agricultural equipment, giving visitors an insight into rural life in times gone by. A video film about the last Thanksgiving parade in 2010 brought back nostalgic memories for many guests.

A highlight of the event was the visit by Minister Albert Füracker, who spent a lot of time at the information stand. He showed great interest in the exhibits and had the special features of the upcoming Thanksgiving procession explained to him. He was particularly impressed by a true-to-original replica of Carl Benz's first automobile, which was brought to the exhibition. “A fascinating piece of technological history,” remarked Füracker.

Another highlight was the Fendt diesel horse from 1939, which was also on display. In addition, an almost new Fendt Vario 934 caught the attention of visitors, as did a historic threshing machine and a mowing machine, which gave an insight into agriculture in earlier times.

Appreciation for agriculture

In his opening speech, Minister Füracker praised the importance of the Thanksgiving holiday and acknowledged the work of the farmers who supply the region with healthy, local food. “It is important to celebrate the festival of Thanksgiving and recognize the contribution of agriculture,” he said. He emphasized that the memories of the hard times of the ancestors should be preserved.

Füracker thanked the organizers of the Thanksgiving parade and emphasized the value of maintaining traditions. He recalled the “Heimatdorf 2023” seal of quality that was awarded to Kastl last year and emphasized that such festivals shape the character of the villages.

Finally, Füracker expressed his anticipation of next year's historic Thanksgiving procession and announced that he would like to take part in it if time permits. He recalled that the 2020 event had to be canceled due to the pandemic and is now looking forward to visiting Kastl in September 2025.

With these words, Minister Füracker said goodbye and made it clear that the 2025 Thanksgiving procession will not only be a regional but also a nationwide event.
