Traditional free ice cream for children in the Wackersdorf adventure park

At the end of August, a very special event was held for little visitors in the Water-Fish-Nature Adventure Park: free ice cream for all children! This annual event is very popular and takes place during the summer holidays. The reason for this sweet surprise is the achievement of 50,000 guests this year, as shown by the facility's automatic counting system.

“It’s almost become a tradition,” says Second Mayor Thomas Neidl, who himself stood at the kiosk for an hour and provided the children with ice cream. He received support from kiosk tenant Elisabeth Richter, who is enthusiastic about the campaign: "It's a highlight for me every year. The children's joy is simply wonderful." Those responsible in Wackersdorf are very satisfied with the number of visitors, especially considering the cool and rainy months in the first half of the year. “This is a remarkable interim result,” adds Neidl.

A popular family place

Elisabeth Richter emphasizes that the summer holidays bring with them a large increase in the number of visitors: “No matter whether it’s a weekend or a weekday – we always have a full house.” The Water-Fish-Nature adventure park has developed into a popular destination for families since it opened ten years ago. The unique facility in the Upper Palatinate Lake District offers five ponds with different themes, from nature observation to a large water playground.

Until the end of October, children can splash around in the park, play and learn a lot about nature and pond management in the region. During the winter months, only the ponds are open for nature observation and research. Admission remains free all year round, making the park an attractive destination for families looking to experience nature.
