Fronberg fire department: Expansion of the equipment shed is progressing
The Fronberg Volunteer Fire Department is receiving two new emergency vehicles. For this purpose, the tool shed has been being rebuilt and expanded since May 2024. The first construction phase is in the final phase. A garage extension for the new vehicles should be completed by the beginning of December.
Renovation and expansion
“We coordinated all planning steps closely with the Fronberg fire department,” explainedJürgen Götzfrom the building authority of the city of Schwandorf. The work is right on schedule. With the end of the first construction phase, the first new vehicle should also arrive.
In the second phase, the existing tool shed will be modernized. New changing rooms, showers and drying and storage facilities are being created. The renovation will continue to ensure the necessary safety regulations. The total costs of the construction project amount to around 650,000 euros. A funding application was also submitted to the government of the Upper Palatinate for the cultivation and vehicle parking spaces.
Importance of the measure
“The expansion of the fire station in Fronberg is an important step in order to continue to optimally support our emergency services in the local areas,” emphasizesAndreas Fellerat the on-site appointment. "With more space and state-of-the-art equipment, we can ensure the safety of our city even more effectively. Every additional square meter helps ensure that the people of Schwandorf can receive better and quicker help in an emergency."
