Be careful, school starts! Maxhütte-Haidhof raises awareness among drivers

The summer holidays are almost over, which means that the streets in Maxhütte-Haidhof will soon be filled with excited children on their way to school. To ensure the safety of all road users, the city has taken measures to remind drivers of their responsibilities. This year, special banners were put up calling for caution on the roads.

With the start of the new school year on September 10th, the likelihood of accidents increases, especially near schools and kindergartens. It is important that drivers pay extra attention to avoid dangerous situations. “The little first graders, who may be going to school alone for the first time, are often distracted,” explains First Mayor Rudolf Seidl.

Attention to the little ones

The distractions are many: a friend calling from across the street, a ball that suddenly rolls into view, or simply curiosity about your surroundings. These little things can disrupt children's concentration on traffic. “That’s why we put up our banners again this year to raise awareness among drivers,” adds Max Schmid from the town hall, who is also responsible for school bus transport.

In addition, additional banners will be placed throughout the city to draw attention to the start of school. “We ask all road users, especially near schools and kindergartens, to drive slower and be careful,” appeals Mayor Seidl. Children's safety is a top priority and everyone can contribute to this by obeying traffic rules.
