30 km/h zone around St. Barbara Church: More safety for everyone

From October 7, 2024, the traffic pattern around the St. Barbara Church in Maxhütte-Haidhof will be noticeably quieter. The city administration has decided to reduce the previous speed limit from 50 km/h to 30 km/h. This affects the streets Friedenstrasse, St.-Barbara-Strasse, Kirchenstrasse, Engelbert-Gstettenbauer-Strasse and Adolf-Kolping-Strasse.

The new traffic signs will be put up on Monday morning and the new regulations will come into force immediately when they are installed. This step follows a decision by the Environment, Construction and Transport Committee made on July 17, 2024. The measure aims to increase safety for residents and visitors to the cemetery.

Improved traffic safety

The introduction of the 30 km/h zone is an important step towards improving traffic safety in this area. Slow speeds can help reduce the risk of accidents, especially near places where pedestrians frequent. The city administration hopes that residents and visitors will respond positively to the new regulations.

The measure is part of a broader traffic calming plan in Maxhütte-Haidhof, which aims to improve the quality of life in the residential areas. Reducing speed not only increases safety, but also reduces noise pollution for residents. The city administration encourages all road users to adhere to the new speed limits and thereby contribute to a safe environment.
