Maxhütte-Haidhof: New on-call buses and school bus routes for all citizens

The city of Maxhütte-Haidhof recently introduced a significant innovation in public transport that affects both students and adults. From September 10, 2024, all citizens will be able to use the bus routes that were previously intended exclusively for students. This is a big step towards better accessibility within the city.

The new bus routes, which are now part of regular public transport, offer a practical way to get around Maxhütte-Haidhof. The lines are known by the numbers 6015, 6016 and 6017, with the first line referred to as “Maxhütte-Haidhof 1” and the second as “Maxhütte-Haidhof 2”. The third line, which acts as a call bus, is called “Rufbus Maxhütte-Haidhof” and is operated by the company 1234 Taxi & Omnibus GmbH.

Details about the new bus routes

The costs for using the bus lines are clearly structured: in the first zone, which covers the city center, the fare is €2.00, while trips in the second zone, which covers the districts, cost €3.00. This pricing makes public transport more accessible to many citizens.

The travel times of the on-call bus are also fixed. It runs between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. daily during school hours, Monday to Friday. On Saturdays the on-call bus operates from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. During school holidays, passengers can use the on-call bus from Monday to Friday between 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. and from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

First Mayor Rudolf Seidl was positive about the introduction of the on-call bus and emphasized that it represents a flexible mobility solution for the city. Together with the administrative specialist Katharina Bauer, he worked on this project for a long time in order to promote the use of local public transport and take the needs of citizens into account.

Certain ticket regulations apply to the use of the on-call bus and the new lines. Recognized tickets include, among other things, the regular RVV tickets that are valid for the respective zones, as well as special discounts for severely disabled people and holders of job tickets. These regulations are intended to ensure that as many citizens as possible can benefit from the new offers.

The city administration sees this initiative as an important step towards improving mobility in Maxhütte-Haidhof and hopes that the new bus routes and the on-call bus will be well received by the citizens.
