70 years of the Söllner butcher's shop: tradition and future in Ponholz
A remarkable event was celebrated in Maxhütte-Haidhof at the end of September: the Söllner butcher shop, a traditional family business, looks back on 70 years of history. This anniversary is not only a reason to celebrate, but also a sign of stability and commitment in the region.
The roots of the Söllner butcher's shop go back to Hohenfels, where the founders Erasmus Söllner and his wife Wilhelmine ran an inn with a butcher shop. After just three years, the family moved to Ponholz to lease the Pongratz/Böhm butcher shop. Ten years later they took over the business completely. In the years that followed, the inn's hall became a popular location for weddings and celebrations.
Milestones of the butcher shop
In 1979, senior partner Erasmus Söllner passed his master's examination and married his wife Ulrike. The butcher shop experienced a major change in 1992 when new regulations required the construction of a new slaughterhouse. Tragically, the company founder died that same year, but the family stuck together and continued to run the company. Erasmus Söllner Jr. eventually took over the business and also passed the master's examination in 2002.
The butcher shop has evolved over the years. In 2010, the cold rooms and production facilities were expanded, and in 2019 the inn was closed to focus more on the butchery. At the anniversary celebration, Söllner Jr. thanked him. to its 20 employees for their many years of loyalty and commitment.
A notable point in the history of the butcher shop is that there has not been a female apprentice butcher in 70 years - until this year, when Laura Deml became the first female apprentice. This shows that the Söllner butcher's shop continues to develop and adapt in modern times.
The First Mayor Rudolf Seidl was also present at the celebrations. He praised the Söllner butcher shop as a flagship for Maxhütte-Haidhof and emphasized that the company was also known beyond the city limits. Seidl presented the two bosses with a bouquet of flowers and wished them a continued successful future.
With a solid workforce of 20 employees, the Söllner butcher shop is well positioned to continue to be successful in the coming years. The 70th anniversary celebrations are proof of the stability and commitment of the Söllner family in the region.
