Captivating journey back in time
Participants can look forward to an exciting journey through time into the dark past. 310 years ago the plague was a big issue in the Upper Palatinate. “The plague is back in town!” it was said at the time. In 1713, the last major wave of plague raged in many places in Europe, including Regensburg, Schwandorf and Neuburg an der Donau. People lived in fear because there was still no cure for the highly contagious disease.
The tour shows how people lived and suffered back then. Numerous small churches in the area testify to the residents' desire to be spared from the plague. The Sebastian Church in the Burglengenfeld suburb was also built for this reason.
