Summer holiday reading club: Burglengenfeld children win a trip to Monte Kaolino
The popular “Summer Holiday Reading Club” campaign took place in the city library for eight weeks, from mid-July to mid-September. Children in grades 1 to 8 were able to discover the world of books in a variety of ways. “We received a lot of great story checks, i.e. individual content statements,” says the directorKerstin thresholdat the end of the action. The prizes were recently awarded to all participants at the community meeting.
Awards ceremony and number of participants
At the beginning of the campaign, each club member received a so-called “summer journal”, a participation booklet in which the books they had read could be recorded and stamps collected. In order to take part in the award ceremony, at least three books had to be read and rated in the “story check”.
123 children, almost twice as many as last year, took part in the campaign and read a total of 857 books. “There were so many participants that we had to spread the awards ceremony over two dates,” explainsthreshold. Almost 80 children came to the awards ceremony for grades 1 to 3 alone.
