A hint of the smell of cookies and punch wafts through the corridors of the town hall at the beginning of November. The new Christ child Selina Menacher introduces herself to the administration and staff. Pre-Christmas anticipation is spreading among the employees.
The new Christ child
The 15-year-old student attends the M train at the Sophie Scholl Middle School in Burglengenfeld. She volunteers with youth carer Ines Wollny at the community center on Europaplatz. The robe of the Burglengenfeld Christ Child fits Selina like a glove. "In my childhood I was used as an angel several times in nativity plays. But being able to be a Christ child is even better," says Menacher happily.
Multitasking in Advent
The Burglengenfeld Christmas child shows multitasking skills. For Advent 2024, the young people are organizing this year's nativity play in their hometown of Münchshofen. She will also appear as an angel at the Advent market in Teublitz, a week after Burglengenfeld. During Advent, the Christ child celebrates her 16th birthday - albeit a little earlier than on Christmas Eve.
Opening of the Advent market
“I am convinced that Selina will fulfill her task excellently,” confirms the managerWolfgang Weissthe young woman. The Advent market will open on Friday, November 29, 2024, with a procession of Christ Child, Santa Claus, angels and snowmen as well as the Pilsheim Jura brass band. The heavenly entourage moves from the town hall through the romantic Budendorf to the stage around 5 p.m. There is the starting signal for three magical days.
