Stuffed animals in need: consultation hours for teddy bears and dolls in the museum

On Sunday, October 20th, the Upper Palatinate Folklore Museum will be transformed into a contact point for sick cuddly toys and dolls. From 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., children, collectors and anyone with a love of stuffed animals can bring their injured companions. The event promises not only fun, but also an educational experience for the little participants.

During a lovingly designed “consultation hour”, four experienced bear and doll doctors will be available to take care of the treasures they have brought with them. Evi Dams and Traudl Pirzer specialize in old dolls with porcelain heads and teddy bears. They give valuable tips on repairs and provide information about the various manufacturing processes and current market prices. Dr. Hildegard Riedhammer and her former doctor's assistant, Ms. Obermeier, look after the sick cuddly toys and dolls.

A doctor's visit for stuffed animals

The consultation hours for the little patients will be like in a real doctor's office. First, the “cuddly toy parents” collect all the important information about their pets before a thorough examination is carried out. We then consider together with the children what treatment is necessary. Does the stuffed animal need a bandage or some medicine? Is it better to give him a time out by reading to him? Or should you pay attention to your diet?

The organizers of the museum and the museum association are looking forward to numerous visitors, young and old. The event takes place as part of the exhibition “Health. 70 Years of Burglengenfeld Hospital”. Entry for children is free, while adults have to pay one euro to enter the museum. This campaign not only offers a way to help your own stuffed animals, but also an opportunity to learn more about the history and care of dolls and teddy bears.

The event promises to be a fun and educational experience for the whole family. It's a wonderful opportunity to encourage children's creativity and show them the importance of taking care of their toys.
