Microcensus 2024: Important data for Bavaria's citizens
The 2024 microcensus is in full swing and will be carried out in Bavaria and throughout Germany. This comprehensive household survey is the largest of its kind in Germany and takes place annually. The data collected is crucial for political decisions that affect the lives of all citizens.
In total, around 120,000 people from around 60,000 randomly selected households will be surveyed in Bavaria. This survey aims to obtain an accurate picture of the living and working conditions of the Bavarian population. So far, around 70,000 people have taken part in the survey, and around 50,000 more people will be asked to help by the end of the year. The selected households receive a written invitation from the Bavarian State Office for Statistics asking them to take part in a telephone interview or an online survey.
Legal basis and data protection
The implementation of the microcensus is based on the Microcensus Act (MZG). It is important to know that the selected persons are obliged to participate in accordance with Section 13 of the Act. This means that any information not provided could affect the accuracy of the results. There is no exemption from this obligation. Data protection has the highest priority: all data collected is kept strictly secret and used exclusively for statistical purposes.
In order to carry out the survey efficiently, specially trained survey officers are deployed. These professionals are carefully selected and prepared by the State Statistics Office to ensure that the surveys are conducted professionally and respectfully.
