The 19th Youth Film Festival Upper Palatinate 2025 is calling on young filmmakers to submit their short films. The deadline for entries is October 1, 2025. All creative minds between the ages of 12 and 26 who live in Upper Palatinate are eligible to participate. The films must be developed and produced under your own responsibility and must not be of a commercial nature. They should also have been created in the last two years and can be submitted in the genres of feature, documentary, animated or experimental film.

The festival, which has taken place every two years since 1989, promotes youth culture and media production in the region. Prices and topics

The best films at the festival are awarded various prizes, including cash prizes and the Upper Palatinate Youth Film Prize. A special audience award will also be awarded and this year's theme is “justice”. The winning films will be awarded on November 22, 2025 at the Cineplex Neumarkt. In total, several youth film awards are awarded in different age categories: 12-17 years, 18-21 years and 22-26 years. There is also the special award, which focuses on the topic of “justice”, as well as an audience award that is not nominated for the Bavarian Children and Youth Film Festival 2026.
