A well-deserved farewell: Dieter Albrecht is retiring after 40 years!
On December 1, 2025, the Regensburg District Office bid farewell to Dieter Albrecht in his well-deserved retirement. Albrecht was an important part of the Regensburg district for over four decades and led the district youth welfare office with great dedication.
In a celebratory speech, District Administrator Tanja Schweiger praised Albrecht's commitment and achievements. She highlighted how his calm demeanor, expertise and extensive experience shaped the district youth welfare office. Albrecht was known for building bridges between the administration, independent organizations, schools, institutions and families, which earned him great respect.
Transition period and new management team
During the transition period, Kathrin Fruth took over the management of the district youth welfare office for a short time before she went on parental leave. Johann Götz has been in charge of the youth welfare office since mid-August 2025. Department head Teresa Breininger-Schrembs praised Albrecht's professionalism, humanity and team spirit, who also emphasized priorities such as child protection, youth social work and advisory services during his term in office.
The district youth welfare office offers various services for citizens, including financial support services such as maintenance advances for single parents. Integration assistance is becoming increasingly important, and advisory services include offers such as “A Thousand and No Nights” for parents of infants with restless sleep.
Farewell in a friendly atmosphere
The farewell party ended with a traditional white sausage breakfast, where many memories and good wishes for the future were exchanged. The newly formed management team of the district youth welfare office was introduced in order to continue Albrecht's work and to further advance the important tasks of the youth welfare office.
The Youth Welfare Office brochure also offers comprehensive insights into how it works and the various types of help available. These include, for example, the support plan process and the procedure for endangering children's well-being, which are of central importance for parents and specialists in order to ensure the best possible support.
