Civil society engagement in Germany

The context of the commitment is made clear by recent static surveys. There are a large number of civil society organizations in Germany. According to the bpb, the number of registered associations rose from around 86,000 in 1960 to around 616,000 in 2022. Despite this increase, the number of new registrations is Associations have declined in recent years, which indicates structural challenges in civic engagement.

Bürgerhilfe Tegernheim e.V. helps to address the challenges in the community and thus shows how important local initiatives are for the social fabric. Such organizations are not only necessary for supporting people directly, but are also essential as part of a broader social infrastructure.
