It is necessary to have the nationality of an EU member state and to be at least 18 years old on election day, which means that candidates must have been born on March 8, 2008 or earlier. They must also have lived in the municipality of Pielenhofen or Wolfsegg for at least two months. Furthermore, they must not be excluded from the right to vote. If you have any questions, Susanna Hochholzer and Philipp Eichenseer-Dießl are available and can be contacted on 09409 8510 – 19 or 09409 8510 – 23 or by email.
Duties and compensation for election workers
The use of election workers is varied. The tasks include ensuring that the election is carried out properly, ensuring peace and order in the voting room, checking eligibility to vote and issuing the ballot papers. Counting the votes and determining the provisional election results are also among the tasks of the electoral board. This all shows how important the role of poll workers is in the electoral system bundeswahlleiterin.de documented.
For their assistance, election workers receive compensation, often referred to as “refreshment money.” This sum is intended to cover food and drinks during the voting process. However, the amount of the refreshment allowance varies depending on the municipality. For example, election workers in Bielefeld receive 80 euros per election day, while in Cologne the compensation varies between 60 and 80 euros. Additionally, there are bonuses for special features or training offered by different cities.
Obligation in an emergency
In North Rhine-Westphalia, if there are not enough volunteers available, an obligation to participate can theoretically be declared. However, this right has never been used so far because municipalities usually find enough volunteers. In an emergency, administrative staff can also be asked for support in order to carry out the election properly WDR reported.
Active participation as an election worker not only offers the opportunity to experience democratic processes up close, but also to make a valuable contribution to society. The Pielenhofen-Wolfsegg administrative community is looking forward to welcoming many committed individuals who would like to support democracy.
