Participate and help shape: Citizen survey on social cohesion
An exciting citizen survey is currently being carried out in Bavaria on the topic of “Home – more than a feeling”. This survey, initiated by the Nuremberg University of Technology, aims to examine social cohesion in rural regions. The survey runs until October 14, 2024 and invites all citizens to share their opinions and ideas.
The central question of the survey is what the state of social cohesion is in rural areas of Bavaria. The university would like to find out what views citizens have on this topic and what suggestions they can make to strengthen cohesion. The project is funded by the Bavarian State Ministry of Finance and Homeland and is scheduled to run until 2026.
Details about the survey
The Bavarian Homeland Project examines what social cohesion means. It's about the coexistence of local people, the feeling of belonging to a community and the questions that affect the common good. To get a comprehensive picture, three surveys and four in-depth projects will be carried out, including voices from different age groups and backgrounds.
Participating in the survey is easy and takes place online via the project website. All citizens living in rural areas are welcome to contribute their perspectives. The first survey took place last year and the results can be viewed on the project website. The current survey on local connectedness starts on September 14th and ends on October 14th, 2024.
Participating in this survey is not only an opportunity to make your voice heard, but also a chance to actively participate in shaping your own community. The data collected is used to analyze and promote social cohesion. The results of the surveys are regularly published on the project website so that anyone interested can follow developments.

The homeland project is part of the homeland strategy “Offensive.Heimat.Bayern 2025” and was launched as a result of the Heimat.Bayern future dialogue. It offers a valuable opportunity to capture citizens' opinions and strengthen social structures in Bavaria's rural regions.
