Complete closure of Universitätsstrasse: diversions and restrictions from September
Universitätsstrasse will be closed to traffic from September 2nd to 10th, 2024. This measure is necessary to improve the roadway and sidewalks below the A3. These areas were renewed as part of the expansion of the A 3 in 2023. The lockdown begins at 7am on Monday, September 2nd and ends at 10pm on Monday evening, September 9th. Drivers and pedestrians have to adapt to these restrictions, while traffic on the A 3 itself is not affected.
Alternative routes are planned to reroute traffic. Cars and trucks will be rerouted via Ludwig-Thoma-Straße and Graßer Weg. Cyclists can use Karl-Stieler-Straße and Graßer Weg. Bus routes 6 and 11 are also undergoing changes. Line 6 will be rerouted via Franz-Josef-Strauß-Allee and Galgenbergstraße, meaning that the Universität, An der Kreuzbreite and Neuprüll stops can no longer be reached. A replacement stop will be set up in the Am Biopark area. However, the Otto-Hahn-Straße stop remains served.
Important traffic information
Line 11 will also be rerouted, but can serve the Neuprüll, An der Kreuzbreite and Universität stops, while the Otto-Hahn-Straße stop will not be served. A map is available on the project website for detailed information about the diversions. This is under www.a3-regensburg.de/service available.
During this time, traffic on the A3 will be severely restricted. On the weekends mentioned there will only be one lane in the direction of Passau and two lanes in the direction of Nuremberg. In addition, entrances and exits are closed at various junctions. The Southern Bavaria motorway recommends avoiding non-essential journeys on these weekends in order to avoid traffic jams and delays.
The exact closure times are tentative and subject to change due to weather conditions or other unforeseen circumstances. The decision as to whether the work will be carried out as planned will be made on the Thursday before the weekend and announced on the project website.
