As digital transformation continues, fiber optic expansion in the Pentling municipal area is crucial. The municipality has set itself the goal of providing its citizens with fast and high-performance fiber optic connections with gigabit bandwidths. This was decided against the background of the increasing need for stable internet connections due to home schooling, home office and the simultaneous use of multiple devices.
The project is being implemented in cooperation with Laber-Naab-Infrastructure GmbH and Deutsche Telekom, who are implementing the connection to LNI GmbH's fiber optic network. The expansion is financed both through subsidies and through the municipality's own contribution, which means that the measure is offered to property owners free of charge and without obligations. However, property owners must commission LNI GmbH to have the fiber optic cable laid across their private property.
Affected areas and next steps
The areas of Hänghof, Nußhof, Matting, Hölkering and Poign are currently affected by the fiber optic expansion. It is important to note that the decision to book tariffs with telephone providers is the responsibility of the property owners. They must decide individually which offers are best suited for them in order to make optimal use of the possibilities of the new fiber optic network.
The booking phase for the fiber optic expansion started on February 23, 2026, and the municipality is appealing to all affected owners to take part in the initiative. The expansion is not only a step towards a modern and future-proof internet infrastructure, but also a response to the growing demands of the digital world.
