Construction work in Undorf: traffic chaos for drivers and buses!

Construction work to renovate the through-town road in Undorf, part of the Regensburg district, began on April 28, 2025 and is expected to last until the end of December 2025. This joint measure includes the Nittendorf market and the Laber-Naab water supply association. The current status of construction work shows that the stormwater drain has been built up to just before Kastanienstrasse and the asphalt base course between the Netto discounter and Hofmarkstrasse has already been installed. Further steps are planned for November 12, 2025 to ensure progress.

Several work steps are scheduled for the next few days. On November 17th and 18th, 2025, the frost protection layer will be leveled with a grader. On November 19th, the asphalt base course will be installed in the Netto intersection area and in the area from Hofmarkstrasse to the east of Ludwig-Thoma-Strasse. On this day, a pre-spray agent will also be applied to the asphalt base course. Another important work step is the installation of the asphalt surface layer between the Netto intersection and east of Ludwig-Thoma-Straße on November 20, 2025.

Traffic restrictions and diversions

Ludwig-Thoma-Straße will be completely closed to local and delivery traffic from November 17th to 21st, 2025. Residents are asked to park their vehicles outside Eichhofener Straße to support construction site operations. However, it should not be forgotten that access for rescue workers is always guaranteed. In addition, the removal of paper bins will be ensured on November 18, 2025. As part of this construction project, a collection of used tires is also planned for November 17, 2025. Residents are asked to leave their used tires in front of the property by 7 a.m.

This construction work not only has a direct impact on traffic, but also influences local public transport. Due to the measures, various bus routes have to be rerouted. Bus line 2 will be redirected towards Karl-Stieler-Straße via Theodor-Storm-Straße, while the Wolfgangschule Nord and Karthauser Straße stops will not be available. This also affects the bus lines C2, 4 and N3, which require diversions in different areas. Residents are invited to use the RVV app or the RVV website for detailed information about the diversions.

Federal Transport Infrastructure Plan 2030 in context

The current construction work in Undorf is in line with the efforts of the Federal Ministry of Transport, which are supported by the Federal Transport Infrastructure Plan (BVWP) 2030. This represents the central instrument for the federal government's transport infrastructure planning for a period of 10 to 15 years. It includes both existing networks as well as expansion and new construction projects in the areas of road, rail and waterways. The BVWP 2030 is intended in particular to help eliminate bottlenecks in important transport hubs and increase the attractiveness of transport systems.

The total investments in the BVWP 2030 amount to around 269.6 billion euros, with around 141.6 billion euros earmarked for maintaining the existing networks. This extensive planning underlines the importance of the current construction work in Undorf, which not only improves the local infrastructure, but also contributes to the federal government's overall transport infrastructure.

Local residents' understanding of traffic disruptions during construction is greatly appreciated as they will play a critical role in future traffic safety and quality.
