New momentum for Neutraubling's sports facilities: renovation and construction projects!
On November 20, 2025, a public meeting of the city council took place in Neutraublingen town hall, at which several important resolutions were passed. Among the items on the agenda was the approval of an application from MFS eGbR, which envisages the change of use of a warehouse to a hall with workshops and storage rooms for motor vehicles. Further resolutions concerned the conversion of a retail unit into a post office shop and the dedication of footpaths and cycle paths in the “Am Kleinfeld” development area.
A central point of the meeting was participation in the newly launched federal program “Renovation of municipal sports facilities”. The city council unanimously approved the measure to renovate the middle school gym. This program is aimed at municipalities to support the modernization of sports facilities. Federal funding totaling 333 million euros is available for the current project call. In the long term, up to one billion euros should be made available in this legislative period to transform outdated sports facilities into modern and barrier-free facilities, as bmwsb.bund.de reports.
Federal program for sports facility renovation
The “Renovation of Municipal Sports Facilities” program enables cities, municipalities and districts to carry out comprehensive structural renovations of publicly accessible sports halls, indoor and outdoor swimming pools. The focus is particularly on energy-efficient renovation. In addition to modernizing existing facilities, projects to create artificial turf pitches and similar outdoor sports facilities are also being considered. Sustainability should be the focus here, as sbfv.de adds.
Municipalities can submit project sketches digitally to the Federal Institute for Building, Urban and Spatial Research until January 15, 2026. The projects to be funded are selected by the Budget Committee of the German Bundestag. There is also the possibility of passing on funding to third parties, such as clubs, in order to enable these actors to renovate as well.
Overall, the meeting of the Neutraubling City Council not only represents current developments in the city, but also contributes to the broader sports policy objective of the federal and state governments to bring existing sports infrastructure to a sustainable level. The ongoing renovation of the middle school gymnasium is seen as an example of municipal commitment to improving sports facilities, which promotes both sporting and social aspects in the communities.
