The new North am Regen sports facility is taking shape. The sports committee, together with Mayor Astrid Freudenstein and Mayor Ludwig Artinger, recently visited the construction site to get an impression of the progress. This facility will not only enrich the sports landscape in the city, but also integrate important flood protection measures.
In Sallern, a district that is often affected by flooding, two new grass playing fields and a functional building will be built next year. The latter will be equipped with showers, changing rooms and an equipment room to meet the needs of popular sports. In addition, two club places will be created for SV Sallern, which will be heavily challenged by the construction work and flood protection. The clubhouse has to be integrated into the new flood dam, which represents a particular challenge.
Flood protection and sports activities
Mayor Freudenstein commented on the challenges that flood protection poses for sports activities. "The flexibility and patience of SV Sallern are admirable. It is a real herculean task to maintain training operations during the construction work. But the new sports areas will be a great benefit for the city, as the demand for playing fields is enormous," she explained.
The planning and implementation of the sports areas is the responsibility of the municipal garden department. Mayor Ludwig Artinger and several members of the sports committee were enthusiastic about the construction progress on site. “One of the most beautiful sports facilities in Regensburg is being built here on Regen,” emphasized Artinger, emphasizing the importance of the new facility for the city.
Completion of the new sports fields is scheduled for approximately a year after the visit, meaning athletes will soon be able to benefit from the new facilities. The anticipation of the new opportunities in the sports sector is already noticeable.
