New fire station and construction projects: Laaber market town council decides!
At the meeting of the Laaber market town council on December 8th, 2025, numerous building applications were approved that are intended to promote the further development of the community. The approved projects include the construction of a new single-family home with a double garage and equipment room in Ahornweg and the construction of a carport in Waldetzenberg, Eichenstrasse. In addition, a woodworking workshop and a heating center with pellet storage were approved in Laaber, Lindenhof. The removal of existing outbuildings in Lindenhof was also announced, which represents a further step towards improving development in the region. ( Markt Laaber reports )
Another important point at the meeting was the revision of the fire protection concept for the “St. Nikolaus” daycare center at Talweg 30. This revision is based on the specifications of the district office, with the costs of cutting out the opening for the second escape route being borne by the planner.
Fire service and traffic safety
Another important topic was the election of the new commander of the Markt Laaber fire department. Manuel Ostermeier was elected as the new commander, while Dominik Graf will serve as deputy commander. Jürgen Müller asked to be released from volunteer work, which will take effect on February 28, 2026. The market town council confirmed the elections and thanked Jürgen Müller for his services.
An application from Alliance 90 / The Greens for “Untere Hofwiese” provided for the repeal of the “11th amendment to the land use plan” and the development plan for age-appropriate housing. In addition, information was provided about the general renovation of the Regensburg-Nuremberg railway line, which includes the use of articulated buses. These run from Beratzhausen via Laaber to Deuerlinger train station and then to Regensburg. The departure times in Deuerling are set at 6:43 a.m., 7:03 a.m., 7:23 a.m., 7:43 a.m. and 8:03 a.m.
Traffic monitoring and security
In view of the increasing traffic density, an application was prepared by the SPD for speed limits in Waldetzenberg. In order to increase traffic safety, the market town council commissioned the municipal traffic surveillance to carry out more checks. This is in line with the vision zero that Germany is striving for, which aims to have no deaths or serious injuries in road traffic. The road safety pact between the federal government, states and local authorities is intended to reduce traffic deaths in Germany by 40% by 2030. ( Mobility Forum )
The governing body attaches particular importance to preventive measures and concepts to increase traffic safety. This includes the formation of a local accident commission to analyze accident clusters as well as regular traffic surveys to ensure that traffic signs and road equipment are in good condition. School route plans and public relations also play an important role in increasing awareness of road safety.
Finally, approved resolutions from a non-public meeting were also announced at the meeting, including an agreement with the Regensburg State Building Authority regarding the renovation of the state road for the new fire station. The Laaber market will pay a one-off amount of €7,000.00 to expand the street area. The ILEK final report was also discussed, which will provide subsidies for clubs, institutions and businesses from 2026, with €75,000.00 earmarked for nine participating municipalities.
