Hemau launches free energy advice – secure your place now!

The city of Hemau has initiated comprehensive municipal heat planning in collaboration with the Regensburg Energy Agency. This planning is part of a larger project that will be accompanied by a new renovation campaign. The aim of the campaign is to support the implementation of heat planning and thus take a step towards sustainable heat supply.

As part of this initiative, the city is offering free energy consultations, although there are currently still a few places available. The consultations as part of this renovation campaign include a total of 50 on-site consultations on the subject of heating and renovation, each worth 40 euros. The aim is to show options for optimizing the energy efficiency of properties and recommend suitable heating systems in order to both reduce costs and increase comfort. Interested citizens can register directly with the Regensburg Energy Agency, which can be reached on 0941/2984491-0 or by email at kontakt@energieagentur-regensburg.de.

Climate-neutral heat supply as a goal

Municipal heat planning is not only a local concern, but also follows the requirements of the new heat planning law, which comes into force on January 1, 2024. This law obliges municipalities to draw up plans for a climate-neutral heat supply and is intended to help gradually replace fossil energies with sustainable alternatives. The aim is to ensure a reliable, cost-effective and independent heat supply. The legal requirements mean that communities with more than 100,000 inhabitants must submit appropriate heat plans by June 2026 and smaller communities by June 2028.

Heat supply accounts for over half of final energy consumption in Germany and is responsible for a significant proportion of greenhouse gas emissions. Comprehensive heat planning is therefore crucial for the climate goals by 2045. The law creates a legal framework to develop efficient transformation paths and determine the best possible heat supply options for different regions.

The role of energy consulting

Energy policy developments not only affect large cities, but also smaller communities that need to be involved in the process. According to the German Energy Consultant Network, municipalities receive support in reducing CO2 emissions through a network of climate protection and energy consultants. This includes the creation of municipal climate protection concepts as well as the development of implementable measures for strategic decisions.

The federal government's energy strategies stipulate that existing heating networks will obtain at least 30% of their energy from renewable sources by 2030, with a target of 80% by 2040. Municipal heat planning and regular energy advice are crucial elements in achieving the set climate goals. Citizens are invited to be actively involved in the planning, as broad participation is considered desirable in order to find locally adapted solutions.
