Construction projects and finances in focus: Brunn municipal council meeting informed!

The Brunn municipal council met on September 25, 2025 and decided on several important construction projects as well as approaches to financial planning for the coming year. This can be seen from the official minutes of the meeting, which were published on the municipality's website. A unanimous decision was made to push ahead with the construction of a new agricultural hall in Konstein, a warehouse on Kirchplatz in Brunn and a single-family residential building in Münchsried.

However, on another point, the application to change the access to the garage in Brunn am Wiesenweg was unanimously rejected. The plans of neighboring communities, however, did not meet with any objections: both the Nittendorf market (development area “South of Buchenstrasse” in Undorf) and the Laaber market (new construction of a fire station) can continue their projects without any problems.

Budget 2024 and renovation projects

With regard to the 2024 budget, detailed figures were presented: The administrative budget provides for income and expenditure of 3,186,919.10 euros, while the asset budget is estimated at 2,317,390.37 euros. The 2024 financial statements were noted and an audit committee was appointed.

Another topic of the meeting was the renovation of the rectory in Frauenberg. An excursion to visit parishes that have already been renovated took place on September 26, 2025. A subsidy of 60 percent for the renovation and construction of a community hall with a total cost of a maximum of 1.2 million euros was also discussed.

Child care and village renewal

In discussions with the government of the Upper Palatinate, the renovation costs for the St. Marien kindergarten in Eglsee were discussed, which amount to at least 530,000 euros. There is the possibility of 50 percent funding for this project, but with an upper limit of 2 million euros. In order to maintain operations during the renovation, temporary container solutions are planned.

As part of the Frauenberg village renewal, the renovation work on the church forecourt is planned for 2027. Immediate processing of the leisure area is also planned. The municipality will obtain three offers for the required trades and award the contracts. Proof of use must be submitted by summer 2026. In addition, a separate funding option for the construction of a disabled-accessible trampoline is being examined.

Energy-efficient renovations and tax relief

In connection with energy renovation measures, owners of owner-occupied properties in Germany, the EU and the EEA can benefit from tax reductions from 2024. The tax reduction applies to up to 20 percent of the investment costs, up to a maximum of 40,000 euros per property. The funding extends over three years, divided into 7 percent in the first year (maximum 14,000 euros), 7 percent in the second year and 6 percent in the third year. These tax advantages can be claimed in addition to BAFA funding programs as part of the federal funding for efficient buildings (BEG). The relevant measures must have started after December 31, 2019 and the property must be older than 10 years to be eligible.

Energy renovation measures aim to achieve energy savings. Examples of this include the insulation of facades, roofs and basements, the replacement of old windows and the modernization and optimization of heating systems. In the case of extensive renovations, the installation of ventilation systems with heat recovery also makes sense in order to further increase energy efficiency. What is particularly noteworthy is that 50 percent of the costs for planning support from energy consultants can be claimed for tax purposes, which is an attractive way for many homeowners to optimize the costs of renovations.

The next meeting of the local council will report to citizens in detail about progress and upcoming projects. Remembrance Day, which will be celebrated on November 16, 2025 with a mass for deceased members of the local council, is also approaching. A report on the land circuit, in which 286 relay teams and 51 ultrarunners took part on September 20, was also noted. Furthermore, the problem of a gap in the street lighting in Eglsee was pointed out, which will be discussed at the next meeting.
