Future meeting: ILE Vorderer Bavarian Forest starts climate adaptation!
On September 30, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. there will be a meeting of the ILE association meeting in the community/parish hall of the kindergarten, Höllbachstr. 3 in 93179 Brennberg. This was announced in an announcement by Irmgard Sauerer, the chairwoman of the special purpose association, on September 15, 2025. The agenda includes several important items, including the introduction of the new ILE regional manager Lisa Betz and the new project manager of the sponge region, Christian Burkhard. A central point of the meeting will be municipal heat planning, where the decision to transfer implementation back to the municipalities will be made.
The agenda also contains information, inquiries and announcements. The public part of the meeting will be replaced by a non-public part in which further topics will be discussed.
Background to heat planning
Municipal heat planning plays a crucial role in the future energy supply of the ILE communities. Four communities are currently creating – Bischofsmais, Kirchberg i. Forest, Kirchdorf i. Wald and Rinchnach – a common heating plan. This aims to create the basis for a greenhouse gas-neutral heat supply by determining the heat requirement and coordinating it with renewable heat supply infrastructures. Inventory analyzes and potential analyzes are essential in order to develop concrete implementation plans and ensure investment security for all players, reports ile-grüner-dreiberg.de.
The implementation of these plans is supported by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection and the Zukunft - Umwelt - Gesellschaft gGmbH. A funding notice was issued on September 6th, 2023 for the period from October 1st, 2023 to September 30th, 2024, with the decision to extend the approval period to March 31st, 2025. The long-term goal is to achieve a greenhouse gas-neutral heat supply by 2040.
Climate protection measures and projects
The ILE Vorderer Bavarian Forest also relies on a comprehensive climate protection concept, which was presented by climate protection manager Adrian Brieden. This concept has been developed over the last year and a half and includes 80 measures aimed at reducing up to 95% of CO2 emissions. CO2 emissions for the region totaled 178,000 tons in 2020. At 6.3 tons per year, per capita emissions were below the German average.
Based on this data, promising scenarios for reducing CO2 emissions emerge. When using balcony PV systems, full coverage of the balance sheet energy costs could be achieved. Brieden emphasized the need for controlling and public relations in order to secure the implemented measures in the long term. The concept was unanimously approved in Brennberg and shows that the ILE Vorderer Bayerischer Wald is pursuing ambitious climate policy goals, as stated by ile-vorderer-bayerischer-wald.de reported.
