Remembrance Days in Beratzhausen: Remembrance Day with moving celebrations!
Today, November 13, 2025, Germany celebrates Remembrance Day, an important day of remembrance that commemorates the victims of war, violence and political persecution. The aim of the day is not to forget the horrors of the past and to advocate for peace and reconciliation. Several commemorations are planned in the Beratzhausen community to highlight the significance of this day. According to Beratzhausen, the celebrations will take place on Saturday, November 15th and Sunday, November 16th.
On Saturday the event begins at 5:45 p.m. with a church procession, followed by a church service at 6:00 p.m. Afterwards there will be a commemoration at the war memorial, which will be accompanied musically by the Beratzhausen brass band. Mayor Matthias Beer will give a speech about the significance of the day and lay a wreath. Songs such as the “Song of the Good Comrade” and the “Deutschlandlied” are also sung.
Commemorations in Pfraundorf
A similar memorial service is planned in Pfraundorf on Sunday, November 16th. The church procession begins there at 9:15 a.m. and the service at 9:30 a.m. Here too, a commemoration will take place at the war memorial, accompanied by a chorale by the St. Martin brass band and a speech by the mayor. The celebrations conclude with the commemoration of the dead, prayer and the same songs as on Saturday.
The population and local associations are cordially invited to take part in these important commemorations. Remembrance Day has a long tradition, which was launched in 1919 by the German War Graves Commission, originally as a commemoration of those who died in the First World War. This day is now celebrated as a “quiet holiday” on the penultimate Sunday of the Protestant church year and serves to reflect on the horrors of war and violence. This is also explained by NDR.
According to Bundeswehr, it is important to commemorate the victims who have fallen in the service of peace and to raise awareness of the consequences of war and violence. These memories should also shape future generations and contribute to sustainable peace.
