Information evening on heat planning: Barbing takes a climate-friendly approach!

An information event on municipal heat planning will take place in Barbing on November 13, 2025 at 7 p.m. The event will be held in the hall at “Das Barbinger” and is aimed at all interested citizens. The municipality of Barbing is cooperating with ACHHAMMER engineering GmbH on this project. The aim of the event is to promote climate-friendly, economical and regional heat supply. A main focus is on informing the population about the planned heat supply and encouraging active participation, as Barbing.de reports.

From January 2025, the municipality of Barbing will officially start municipal heat planning (KWP). This timetable is intended to set the course for the future heat supply in the community. First, it is determined how much heat is required in residential areas, public buildings and businesses. Sustainably designed solutions such as local heating networks, solar thermal energy as well as biomass and waste heat will be examined. This is supplemented by an initial meeting of stakeholders attended by Mayor Hans Thiel, representatives of the municipal administration as well as REWAG and district chimney sweeps. ACHHAMMER Engineering presented the current data status, while REWAG explained possible expansion stages of the heating network, as Heimat-Info describes.

Importance of municipal heat planning

A municipal heating plan is of central importance for a climate-neutral heat supply. It supports communities and local actors in important investment decisions. The aim of this planning is to massively reduce the heat requirement in buildings and at the same time to base the energy supply for space heating, hot water and process heat on renewable sources. Since heat is more difficult to transport than electricity, the transformation process requires local adaptation. Communities play a crucial role in this, as each develops its own individual heat plan, which serves as a strategic basis for heat supply and sustainable urban development. As Baden-Württemberg.de informs, the process of heat planning efficiently combines the potential and needs of the community.

The municipal heat plan is also integrated into other planning tasks in the community and requires regular coordination between heat and urban planning. The content of other projects, such as land use or regional planning, is also included there. The heat plan thus develops into a route planner for the local council and those implementing it.

If you have any further questions or suggestions regarding municipal heating planning, the municipality of Barbing is available to you at the email address gemeinde@barbing.de. Information about the KWP is also provided on the community homepage, in the home app and on social media channels.
